Welcome to TheDrugMonster.com
This is the official website of the author of “The Boy Who Was Swallowed by the Drug Monster.” As many of you know, I am also Vince’s mom.
It has been a long journey to come to the place we are comfortable sharing the rest of our story with you. Vince especially wants you to know the good news we have to tell.
I have just recently written Part II, The Drug Monster’s Demise. We decided to release this on our website. I am amazed at the number of sites talking about our story. I hope you will share our website with your friends.
We want to hear from you. If you would like, write to us on the guestbook page of this site. If you wish to respond privately you may contact us on our email site.
You will notice I have included another story in this website. It is the desire of my heart to share the good news of My Jesus with you. The art is mine and the text was written with the help of my sister, Sharon Van Buren. The paintings include many of our family members, including Vince and his sister.
Please enjoy this site and God bless you for visiting it.

A Message from vince and his Mom.
When we did "The Boy Who was Swallowed by the Drug Monster" video, we did not know there was a way out to get free from the monster of addiction.
Because of this, we made an error in the video you have just seen.
We want to make it clear if you are using drugs, there is a way to escape the monster's grasp.
If you are now addicted to drugs, or are just beginning to use, there is hope for you.
The drug monster may have you now, but he cannot hold on to you forever, if you will accept the way to escape.
There is only one way.
Please accept our apologies for saying if the drug monster swallows you, you are his forever.
Here is our story of how the drug monster is defeated in our lives.
To all the children who pray for us, words cannot express our gratitude for your prayers.

THE BOY WHO WAS SWALLOWED BY THE DRUG MONSTER
PART 2
The Drug Monster's Demise
by Vince's Mom
"Deliverance"
Painted by Vince's Mom for his 30th Birthday, 2002
Vince stayed in the monster's belly for fourteen more years. Try as he might, he was not able to find a way out.
The drug monster lied to him, saying things like, "You will never escape me!" and "I am the only one who loves you!" and "I am the only one who understands."
Vince became a man.
He wasn't in jail anymore but he was still chained up inside the monster.
Sometimes he got a glimpse of another world outside.
"Someday I will get free and leave this monster," he thought.
Vince went to treatment again. He lived in a halfway house with other men who were trying to escape from the drug monster.
He went to church and he heard about Jesus. There he met a lady with two little boys.
He thought, "I will be a husband, I will be a dad to the boys."
The monster said, "You need some help. Have some of my magic to make you strong."
Vince kept using the magic.
He could not help the lady.
He could not protect her boys.
He sunk further down in the monster's belly.
The monster said "It's no use. This is just who you are. You will always be like this. I will never let go of you."
Vince's mom saw how many children were swallowed by the drug monster.
"What can I do?" she cried. "I will tell the children about the drug monster."
"I will tell the children about his lies and maybe they won't try the magic."
So she wrote the story of the boy who was swallowed by the drug monster.
She made the pictures for the children to see.
It was so hard she began to pray, "Jesus, help me!" and He did.
He sent the video to the children in schools all over the nation.
He sent her too. She talked to the children about her boy Vince and how he was stuck inside the monster's belly.
The children were sad for her and her boy. Many of them began to pray for Vince.
They wrote letters Vince and his Mom. They said, "Don't give up."
One little girl wrote, "Here is a good thing. John 3:16 God so loved the world he gave his only son Jesus that whosoever believes in Him will be saved."
"We will pray for Vince!" the children said.
Years passed by.
Vince married the lady. Jesus gave them a baby girl. She was born on Christmas eve. She was perfectly beautiful.
Vince held her and knew Jesus loved him. He saw it was possible to be real and live outside the monster's belly.
There was something truly wonderful. It was better than the monster's magic.
It was love.
But still the monster would not let Vince go.
Vince pretended to be free. He just hid the magic better. He tried to be a real man, not just the boy who loved the magic.
When he held his little girl, he was real for a while.
The monster said, "I am losing this boy. I will try harder to keep him locked up inside me. I will give him more things to hold him here."
He sent him violent video games and evil pictures to make him forget about love.
But Jesus sent Vince food.
Sometimes he would pick up the Bible and read how he should be.
Sometimes he thought about John 3:16.
Vince's Mom prayed.
His wife prayed.
His little girl prayed.
Children who saw his movie prayed.
Teachers who showed the movie to the children prayed.
People in churches prayed.
They all prayed for Jesus to help Vince get free from the drug monster.
Then one day Vince went to church.
He heard the preacher tell about a crippled man waiting beside a pool for an angel to touch the water so he could get well.
Jesus came and asked the man, "Do you want to be well?"
The man said he did, so Jesus healed him.
(John 5:1-17)
Vince prayed, "Jesus I hate this dark place I am stuck in. I want to be real. I want to live outside this monster again."
He asked Jesus, "Will you make me well like you did with the crippled man by the pool."
Jesus said, "Vince you come out of that monster's belly right now!"
The monster did not like it but he had to open his mouth and let Vince go.
Jesus said to Vince, "Now what are you going to do?"
Vince threw away his drugs and all the other things the drug monster used to hold him.
He told his wife, "I am done with drugs!"
He told his children too.
He called his Mom and said, "Jesus freed me!"
She said, "We will see if it's true."
It was and it is.
Vince does not love the magic of the drug monster.
He loves his mom and dad and his little sis. He loves his wife and children too.
But most of all he loves Jesus.
Jesus is the only one who could make him new.
Jesus always loved Vince. He loves you too. He died on the cross for us all 2000 years ago.
He came out of the grave 3 days later with all the power!!!
Jesus wants you to know about the drug monster and his magic so you won't be fooled by his lies. The drug monster is real, but his magic is no match for Jesus.
Jesus doesn't need magic.
He has the most powerful
weapon of all - His LOVE!

Inspired by the 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd.
What does it mean?
It means I am covered.
It means I am clean.
As long as my Jesus is carrying me,
I can go where He leads me wherever it be.
In valleys of green where I lie down.
God's lamb went before me to win me a crown.
He shows me the power of waiting in peace.
He says, "Child your strenght is abiding in me."
Come dance with me children.
You've nothing to fear.
The curse has been broken.
My glory is near.
My angels are waiting, watching you play.
In the shadow of the cross, the light of a new day.
And when I stray, whenever I fall
You show me your grace is the greatest of all.
Beside the still waters in desert of fear,
You say, "Come and drink. Your father is near."
Even in valley's dark shadow you sing,
"I am the Lion, the Ruler the King!
Just come to the cross where I faced down sin.
Your eyes will never see death again!
With angelic hosts to hover o'er you,
Just climb on my back and I'll carry you through!"
I am.
The table prepared,
In the presence of your enemies.
Satan is finished, I took his keys.
Sickness and death are conquered by ME!
I laid down MY LIFE so you can be free.
Here is my blood!
I shed it for you!
My oil is the seal. What more could I do?
I am the GOOD SHEPHERD!
I carried your cross!
I died to bring goodness,
no matter the cost!
Because I AM JESUS,
Annointed and free,
I love you, I free you. I fill you with me!
My Goodness and Mercy will follow you,
Apostle, prophet, evangelist too.
Pastor, and teacher
By you I AM known,
Bringing MY children all the way home.
Do you have Jesus
In your heart?
Would you like JESUS
to be your Savior and Friend?
You may have heard a voice who said
He would never love a child like you.
Your hopes are done. Your dreams are through.
Don't listen to that voice. He lied.
It was for you JESUS died.
Open your heart and let Him come in.
He will cleanse you from all your sin.
"How do I do that?" you might say.
Just repeat after me. I'll show you the way.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for loving me so much.
I am tired of being alone.
I long for your touch.
Please forgive me
for I have sinned.
My heart is open.
You come in.
Fill me Holy Spirit.
I will listen
When YOU tell
me what to do.
For all my life
To you I will be true.
Jesus You are my Pastor,
My teacher, my Savior, my Friend.
My friendship with you will never end.
AMEN.
You'd better believe there is power in this prayer.
Wherever you go, I'll be there!
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths
of righteousness.
for His namesake.
Yeah though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death
I shall fear no evil. You are with me.
Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You annoint my head with oil.
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me
all the days of my life
and I will live in the house
of the Lord forever.
